GRACE Art (Greater Reston Arts Center) is a PTA sponsored art enrichment program at Aldrin Elementary exploring various art themes and artists ranging from ancient and classical art to modern and contemporary art. Each month parent volunteers (or "docents") come into the classroom to share a short presentation about an artist/art theme and lead the class in a project inspired by the artist studied. All students from K-6th grade participate.
The presentation and visuals for the class are provided by GRACE parent coordinators, along with instructions and materials for the project. The program allows parents to be creative and have fun at school with their children and classmates. No art or teaching experience is necessary in order to volunteer!
Students love GRACE Art days! They enjoy learning about the artists, have fun being creative and working on the projects. Each year, Aldrin also participates in Youth Art month when selected student work is exhibited at the GRACE gallery in Reston Town Center.
