Before and After School Programs (ASP) are offered in the fall, winter and spring. Programs include crafting, sports, brain games, Legos and more.
Enrichment programs such as WordMasters, Keyboarding, Science Fair, Math Olympiad and PTA Reflections
GRACE Art (Greater Reston Arts Center) is a PTA sponsored art enrichment program at Aldrin Elementary exploring various art themes and artists ranging from ancient and classical art to modern and contemporary art. Each month parent volunteers (or "docents") come into the classroom to share a short presentation about an artist/art theme and lead the class in a project inspired by the artist studied. All students from K to 6th grade participate.
GOTR is a program that uses the power of running to help prepare girls in 3rd-6th grade for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. Each session the coaches will guide and mentor the girls through fun running activities, exercises, and games (curriculum and materials to be provided by the GOTR organization) that culminate in a 5K event the girls can walk or run together.
Aldrin Backpack Program
The Aldrin Backpack Program serves approximately 50 children from Aldrin with a food bag each weekend. The bags are distributed EVERY Friday. Aldrin is teamed up with Helping Hungry Kids in Reston, who serves other Reston schools as well.
Aldrin Sports Camp
Sponsored by the PTA, the Aldrin Sports Camp is a sports-themed camp that is offered for four weeks in the summer. The camp takes place at the school is open to rising first through sixth graders. The sports camp is open to students outside of Aldrin Elementary. Look for information in the spring.
