Classroom Parent Information
Classroom Parent Responsibilities:
• Assist your teacher as they require during the year. This may include the coordination of classroom volunteers. Check with your individual teacher to find out what assistance they will need.
• Coordinate two parties during the year. Typically one of these will be a holiday/winter theme party, and the other will be an end-of-year party/picnic. Check with your classroom teacher. Classroom parties will vary depending on the grade. Some grade levels coordinate a group celebration. Check with your individual teacher on how they would like this carried out. (Please note that the school would prefer non-food items used in celebrations as much as possible to avoid allergies. Pencils, stickers, or small dollar store items work well.)
• Coordinate your class gift basket to be donated for the annual Family Fun Dance and Auction. Funds and item donations will need to come from your class parents. This is a major fundraiser for our school and all proceeds help our PTA provide events and services for all of our children. We suggest you send a letter home to the parents explaining what item(s) your class plans to donate. Electronics are always a big hit! Give them the option to donate money or items toward the gift. More detailed information will be emailed closer to the time of this spring event.
• Coordinate small treats during Teacher Appreciation Week. Please note the Aldrin PTA carries out the majority of the recognition and special breakfasts, lunches and gifts throughout this week. The Classroom Parent however can coordinate small daily “treats” for example: “I love Mrs./Mr. ________ “ stickers for the kids to wear one day, coordinate flowers to be given from the kids one day, possibly bring in her/his favorite cookies one afternoon, have the kids make special cards which could be put into a booklet to give to the teacher one day, etc.
• Coordinate an End-of-Year gift for your teacher. This is optional. Parents may choose to do something on their own, if at all.
Budget:
$60.00 has been allocated by the PTA per class (not per Class Parent) for the school year. Class Parent and Teacher can work together to use these funds. Please see the financial procedures form, and submit all reimbursement requests to our Treasurer.
